The Haverford College Art Collective is a group of Haverford College student artists and activists. Following the pattern of abuse of Black bodies exemplified by the recent senseless murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other young Black folks, we, the HCAC, like so many of you, are searching for a way to make a difference in the fight to dismantle America’s culture of white supremacy. As part of our personal work to challenge the United States’ systemic oppression of people of color, we are organizing a student art raffle, tickets of which are direct donations to organizations protecting Black bodies and amplifying Black voices.
This project has two goals. Firstly, we hope to generate a greater collective sum of donations than each of us can individually amass. Secondly, we wish to spread awareness and information for this issue and movement by empowering students and their creative pursuits.
